Arctic Monkeys announce new album: Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino leaves fans thanking 'rock gods' ahead of UK tour

Arctic Monkeys have finally announced the name of their highly anticipated new album, marking their first new material in five years.

Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino will be the band’s sixth studio album following on from 2013’s AM. It is slated for release on May 11.

The 11 track LP, which was co-produced by frontman Alex Turner and collaborator James Ford, is described as “a bold and brilliant album reflecting Turner’s ever more comprehensive creative vision.”

The announcement sent Twitter in to meltdown as fans were finally blessed after years of begging for new music. One fan tweeted “Thank you rock gods” while another said they were “in need of oxygen”.

The four piece, made up of Alex Turner, Matt Helders, Jamie Cook and Nick O'Malley, are currently gearing up for a world tour which will see them play gigs across the UK and US from May until August.
