Spencer: 'The meek shall never inherit the earth'

 

East Lansing — Violence erupted Monday at Michigan State University as a group of white nationalists attempted to push their way through protesters outside a speech by Richard Spencer, who said he sees "a war against the white race."

“Inclusion, diversity, this is the new morality at the end of history. ... it is a war against the white race, but it is a war nonetheless,” Spencer said, according to a livestream of his address, which showed him pacing back and forth as he spoke.

Between a dozen and two dozen people were arrested after a series of bloody fistfights and pandemonium near the agriculture pavilion where Spencer spoke, MSU police said.

Gregory Conte, a Spencer ally and director of operations at the National Policy Institute, was among those handcuffed and placed in an Ingham County Sheriff’s Office van after he ran a crowd of protesters blocking his path to the venue.
